Well, Freeform is on its 4th year, Dubalicious is on its 2nd year, and they have merged for 1 glorious year of beats at everyone's favorite dance bar, Shine. I'm not really good at long, flowery, and well worded fanciful promotional e-mails that take the reader on a voyage of the soul, but right now I wish that I was. I feel like a moron, I mean, I don't even have a theme, it ought to have been about the magickal spirits from the realm of the fairies, there ought to be some good ways to adapt a costume to the theme, you know, some way to make a sexy costume that has furry leg warmers, arm warmers, and wings, yet says (cut and paste the appropriate theme) all over it. For me it has been about solving problems, technical problems, compositional problems, performance problems.. I mean, after we invented the instrument, we had to figure out how to play it. Sadly, the problem with problems is that unless Janis Joplin has them, they aren't very sexy.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Diplo (Fools Gold, Philadelphia – www.myspace.com/diplo): There are few DJs or producers on planet earth who have accomplished as much in as little time as Wes Pentz. From the art-scene at the Guggenheim in New York, to the bullet-riddled favelas of Rio di Janeiro to the sweat-soaked streets of Bombay and Bangladesh, Diplo has redefined the concept of “world music”. His merger of electronic backbeats, international rhythms, obscure influences and uncompromising vocals defined a sound, a style, and wildly successful series of releases known as Hollertronix. He spent years circling the globe with London superstar MC M.I.A. in a collaboration that broke down genre walls and dropped a few political bombs as well. Newsweek recognized her as one of the most influential South Asians in the US, and she has been praised by The New York Times, CNN, The Fader, Village Voice, and The Washington Post, among others. She has been relentless in her mission to bring South Asian Music and Culture to New York by spinning at events like P.S. 1’s Warm Up Series, Central Park’s Summerstage, Soundlab and Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturdays as well as her own parties including Mutiny, Bollywood Disco and the incredibly popular Basement Bhangra. Nick Catchdubs (Fools Gold, NYC – www.myspace.com/nickcatchdubs) Nick Catchdubs is a Brooklyn-based DJ and co-founder of the Fool's Gold record label. For the past four years he's been playing shows with the likes of MIA, Spank Rock and the Clipse, and rocking parties around the globe with a mix of hip hop, electro, dancehall, rock and more.

The “Dj for people who hate Djs” (SFWeekly) seems to have something for everyone. Funk impresario, mashup enthusiast, and live collaborator with Parliament-Funkadelic, Rebirth Brass Band and the turntablist for the 45-piece indie techno circus known as the Mutaytor. His career has been an attempt to break down genre and scene barriers, playing every conceivable kind of music in the course of a night, a set, or a seven-minute mash-up. His productions aim to unify the dance club and the concert hall with juicy, listening music (rock and funk) arrayed over breakbeats. We will be bringing you 17 hours of music from multiple talented performers. Our day party in the park will kick off in Oakland at Noon till Six PM. At night, the party will begin at Six PM in Alameda in an intimate warehouse. I can't tell you how jazzed I am about this!

Lawgiverz, a.k.a. R-Kidz and Noize, have been dropping audio bombs for the last five years on Botchit & Scarper, Trigger Recordings and more. Lawgiverz have produced, programmed and remixed with a bizarre selection of artists such as Jeff Beck, Dave Stewart and The Human League. They would like you to know that none of this really matters. Just that if you find yourself in front of the Trigger sound system or at DNA during their laptop and turntable set, prepare to be destroyed with a helping of alien love in the Electrobreaks style.

Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Recordings/Record Records) - Budapest

Even though the name Fine Cut Bodies implies more than one person, behind the FCB letters is only one man, Kevin aka Attila Fodor. His musical tastes are extremely broad which is reflected in the musical preferences of *Chi Recordings*, the label he co-founded in 2000. One of the most important taste-maker DJs in Hungary, he has been one of the key DJs/promoters that built up the huge breaks scene in Hungary and he is now starting to build up the world class underground minimal and tech-house scene in Budapest.

As a DJ, Kevin's taste is determined more by his musical attitude than by any specific genre: he looks for music that's experimental but not selfish, interesting but not unlistenable. As a producer, he has released tracks in many genres and is always looking for new sonic adventures. Kevin's tracks have been licensed for numerous compilations and he has collaborated with and remixed for some of the hottest names in electronic music.

Hi, sorry about the randomness of this posting, Spiral Blaster is a New York based Techno duo, and we would love to get a little feedback from you kids out west. We use an MPC Sampler and a Serge Modular Analogue Sythesizer as the core of our rig, and we use a little Delay box too, but that's all. This is a live show from 3.21.07, just this past wednesday, so the material is brand spanking new, and I wanted to use this global village syndrome of tribe to bounce these ideas off of y'all.

The How Weird Street Fair needs your help!

On Febuary 8th, the How Weird Street Fair, a 10,000
person festival celebrating the art and culture of San
Francisco, appeared before ISCOTT to renew its permit
for this year's fair to be held on May 6, 2007. This
request was rejected despite the 100% safety record of
the event. The reasons cited were neighborhood
opposition, and a small group of neighbors have
registered complaints about the fair. We are committed
to reaching out to this small group of neighbors, but
we also are deeply committed to this fair and the vast
majority of local neighbors who support it.

There is an appeal hearing at 10am on Thursday Feb.
22, 2007 at 1 South Van Ness Avenue on the 7th Floor.
The public is invited to attend.

RE: SUPPORT FOR THE 8TH ANNUAL HOW WEIRD STREET FAIRE

It has come to my attention that the How Weird Street
Faire (scheduled for May 6, 2007) is in critical
danger of being cancelled due to the denial of its
street permits by ISCOTT, in spite of a perfect safety
record. As the appeal authority for ISCOTT, I urge you
to reconsider this decision and issue the permit for
this fair.

The How Weird Street Faire is a unique cultural event
that makes San Francisco a special place to live and
work. 10,000 San Franciscans attend and support this
event that celebrates the city’s avant guard music,
fashion and ideals. The How Weird Street Faire
contributes to San Francisco as a benefit for the
non-profit World Peace Through Technology
Organization, which inspires peace through benevolent
uses of technology; and the Arc, a local non-profit
that provides jobs and training to disabled people. I
urge you to recognize the critical value of this event
to citywide residents, the fair's non-profit
beneficiaries, the arts community, and an overwhelming
number of local neighbors who strongly support the
fair, by issuing its requested permits.

A year ago the Panda's started the totally unhealthy practice of throwing some of the funnest, best sounding parties around. Come celebrate and get sweaty with another kick ass line up of local all-stars! This time beyond the usual dose of breaks, we've added a prescription of krunk and thrown in some hip hop for good measure.

This is an occasion to break out your best panda gear or for the truly SICK, only a sexy doctor or nurse will cure what ails you! The first 30 in costume will get treated to the brand, spankin' new Panda Rejects Compilation II CD. You know you want it!

Dubalicious Returns!! Sat. 7/15 at Catalyst Cocktails

On Saturday, 7/15, join the Space Cowboys' Mancub alongside residents Jonboy, Shabadoo and the Professor Vince Lim for a night of funky breaks, electro and tech house at the return of Dubalicious. Catalyst Cocktails is located South of Market at 312 Harriet Street (at Bryant b/t 6th & 7th). 9pm-2am.

Mancub (Space Cowboys/Sleevin Records)
It is hard to nail his style down, most would say “funky, sometimes nasty”.Chip “Mancub” Corwin is currently voted as a top ten dj of San Francisco. He has been blowing up the block party jams for over ten years. Mancub has a very diffinitive style of turntable tricks that have earned him slots beside some of the dance industry’s biggest headliners. His turntable antics are too numerous to mention but include scratching while wearing boxing gloves, he certainly knows how to work the crowd into a frenzy!!

Satamile moved to SF last year and has been putting out dope Electro for quite some time.
Aside from my event posts I didn't see it on here (well I diidn't look too hard, just the front page posts)
So this is just a heads up for Electro heads on this Electro Tribe, residents include myself bi-weekly, Ripple,
Forest Green and Satamile himself, it's every Tuesday evening 8PM to 1AM.

Thought when looking for a great new place in the Panhandle, SF, I would just go straight to the source ~ those of you who live in these parts. I am looking for a 1-bd or large Studio, outdoor space, cat friendly, good neighbors, up to $1500 for the right place. Would love an "as-is" hand-me-down. Move in June 1st. Me, nice, relaxed girl. Art/Architecture/Music/Dance/ The great outdoors. Will sign long lease. Any local heads-up/word of mouth is great appreciated.
